SSM Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center is a not-for-profit, 190-bed Level I pediatric trauma center in St. Louis, MO. Cardinal Glennon Medical Center specializes in neonatology, cardiology, pediatric and fetal surgery, and cancer services. The Director of Emergency Services is responsible for departmental oversight, exhibiting expert knowledge of all areas of emergency services operations, productivity, human resources, patient flow, and relationship- based care. This individual provides departmental leadership, directs and develops staff as well as educates and acts as a resource to all staff and physicians. The director facilitates and ensures achievement of exceptional standards of patient/customer experience, quality of service, employee engagement / accountability, physician relations and fiscal goals.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-MSN or Masters Degree in a Healthcare related field required.
-3-5 years current clinical emergency department nursing experience.
-1-3 years hospital based emergency department leadership experience.
-Strong clinical and leadership role model.
-Ability to embrace shared decision making.
-Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
-High level analytical ability to develop plans and objectives and to integrate activities with other departments.
-Excellent critical thinking / creative problem solving ability.

The Patient Access Nurse will collaborate with Physicians to screen admissions using InterQual/EMTALA (et al) criteria to ensure appropriate patient status. The Patient Access Nurse will screen all scheduled Inpatient Only procedures for pre-certification numbers (when required) and will request changes in Level of Care as indicated.

Requirements include:

-Registered Nurse, licensed in the state of Missouri.
-Associate Degree or Diploma School Program required
-Bachelor?s degree preferred.
-CPR Certification
-Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg, ICU or Emergency Department experience
-1-2 years Utilization Management experience preferred
-1-2 years Case Management experience preferred
-Strong communication and organizational skills.
-Solid competencies in assessment, interpersonal, and critical thinking.
-Cultivate professional growth and development.
